To become an Official member of MilSim Michigan all you have to simply do is ask in this thread. Then either on a basis of people vouching for you as a good solid player and member you will be granted Official member status or if you have been around long enough and it is seen you are a good member, you will be granted Official member status.
What is the difference between the two? Nothing as of right now, as we are a new site and this is still an idea in progress. In the future, I have plans to make certain features of the site only accessible to Official members. Such as a boards viewable only to the Official member or an ability to post in certain topics.
This is not an attempt at elitism, but an attempt to separate the good quality members from an idiot fresh off the streets. It will allow a way to keep those members out of posting in topics full of valued information. It is a method to help keep the boards from being flooded with idiocy.
There will also be a "MilSim Trainee" status for those who are young and unproven that really truly wish to learn the ropes of MilSim. So they will not be cut out from information and be able to ask questions. As we are all about taking the new breath of airsoft and making them better and showing them how to be valued members of the community.
Most of the reasoning for these two things are to eliminate the same questions being asked over and over again. To eliminate rude members who ruin good topics and to make the boards an overall clean place, devoid of assholes and flaming. Not to take away information from members, but to make it easier for information to be found by those who truly need it. To allow for better information to be more easily posted, without the need to sift through pages and pages of muck.
How to vouch?
After an unofficial member posts here, it is up to an official member to PM me and vouch that they know them and that they are a good airsofter. It will then be taken under consideration and official member status will be granted.
NOTE: This is a trial idea and just a thought that I would like to see work. However, if it leads to elitism or causes any problems that I did not intend to happen. I will cut my loses, apologize, and remove the official member status and go back to normal statuses.
