Well, I haven't seen any rules on FPS, equipment, etc.
So firstly. I want to say Milsim isn't about having all the right gear, it's about role-playing.
If we want this to take off, this should be rule #1.
I've listed some important guide lines, remember this is just a foundation, we can modify from there. I taking these from my personal experince at actual MilSim events (ie. Lion Claws series, Safari Strike, etc).
FPS Limits.
Using .20g BB. Let me know if you would like the Joule rating for each. 0-400 Rifleman (AEGs) 0-450 SAW support 0-600 Sniper (Bolt action Only)
Indoor or for Mount facilities. 0-400 only. Inside to Inside - Semi-auto Inside to Outside - Full-auto Outside to Inside - Semi-auto
Required Equipment. Full sealing goggles. Kill Rag. Watch or time keeping device. Med-Kit (simple First-Aid Kit) Hydration Pack or Bottle of water. Whistle.

2 way radio should be added to the required equipment list.
Velocity limits should be set by the event hosts, and specified in their posts regarding their events.
Personally, I think 350 should be the limit for anything inside of a CQB environment.

I don't think 600fps is a good idea. Especially with the Michigan community.

I agree with El, the field owners/hosts should set rules like that. I think that is one of the problems with the other forum, is that it is trying to set all the rules that owner/host should. We should be more worried about the type of play and leave the specific rules to the owners/hosts. We need to not be the "enforcer of rules", but to serve as listing the guidelines that we hope the owners/hosts follow. Enforcement of the rules is up to the owners/hosts on game day anyway, so let them set them. If you don't like an owner/hosts particular rules, then don't go to their game, or maybe politely ask them about them. It's the whole"it's this way or the highway" attitude that causes the most drama.
Summed upped; We should set guidelines for play, not rules.

Honestly, we were for the most part going to abide by the MiA ruling of FPS for the most part, but it always has been and always will be up to the Event host. That is why its not on the boards, because we feel that it is for the event host themselves to decide.
I agree with Skypilot though, I think the FPS limits should be raised a bit from the MiA standard. However, its always gonna be up to the digression of the event host.

Yeah, if he people are more mature (I hope) then we should be able to raise the limit a little bit. I know we don't want people screaming on the field but, if you have 68rds and a 400fps gun I don't think you gonna be bunkering anyone. Considering, that isn't a tactic that is normally used in a squad.

I dunno, I say it would just be easiest to recommend the MIA FPS regs as standard, and if event organizers/field owners want to deviate, fine. The last thing I want is to go to an event and get shot up by 500 fps automatic fire just because "the milsim forum didn't say I couldn't" or some BS like that.

I'll put some guidelines in soon from the suggestions given by everyone. Then I will address rules that MilSim Michigan will not sponsor. Such as 500FPS automatic fire, or having no engagement limits.

I think the standard MIA ones should suffice. Maybe we could add a little milsim flavoring to the mix.

If anyone is interested I have attached the link to the NCAO Rules. This can give you some ideas or guidelines to follow. And I am open to helping out in anyway I can. www.ncairsoft.org/NCAORules.htm

Military Operations in an Urban Terrain. M.O.U.T. NOT 'mount' I'm a bit lost as to why the saw gunners, able to put down more rounds than anyone else on the feild, has a higher FPS. They're known for overkill. It'd be best to switch them with the AEG fps ratings.. Also, you should post the joules, as well as a conversion chart for higher weight BB's (most sniper rifles shooting above 480 refuse to shoot .2's. My gun has blown up a bb inside the chamber, causing many problems, so i don't shoot .2's ever...)

I see no problem with that, but we would have to have some .30's on hand for chronographing sniper rifles.
