As I've begun thinking more and more about being more milsim oriented I have been watching the events section on that other forum and have found myself thinking "DAMN this milsim shit is going to cost me." I was wondering if some event hosts could have some smaller rec game type events but with more of a milsim feel, like continuing objectives, for a price that doesn't make me need to take out a second mortgage on the farm. In this crappy economy even 40 bucks is tough to come up with especially when you factor gas prices going back up and a minimum of an hour drive as far as I can see.
Really what I'd like to get a chance to do is have just a couple teams get together, say 20 or so people, in a more informal game setting and get the chance to practice the skills before going out to a big event. Basically a scrimmage game, one side plays OPFOR for the other then switch it up.

Umm, my previous event, Cerberus, only cost $15 for the day..., and Black Eagle 2 is only $20 for the day. If you can't come up with those funds... well maybe try cutting back on fast food stops, ciggarettes and maybe other little things you spend money on and save up for event, because in order to have a true MILSIM experience, it takes a large amount of planning and organization, something most people will not do for free.
Rec games are fine, and usually are free, but there is never a "MILSIM Rec Game" out there. Because it takes too much time and effort, and someone to run the whole show in order to give the real experience. If you want trigger time, sure, Rec Games are perfect since a lot of them are free, but if you want the MILSIM experience you're going to have to pay at least a small amount for it.

I have been watching your events on MIA and you're fairly close Tex so your's will likely be a first for me. As to cutting back on smokes that's done, fast food that's been cut back for a while, maybe those little things I need to save money on is my kids, they are a money pit I'm telling you! I seriously doubt that CPS would appreciate me cutting back on diapers, day care and food though.

This has been suggested before in a different light on these forums from Troub I believe, more of the tactics that go along with the Milsim experience.
I think he said get together at Farmington possibly to kind of get people from being Bozos and having Newbs telling everyone what to do to just having people see what its like?
Thoughts?

Farmington isn't really suitable for practicing for a MilSim event, as most aren't held at close-quarters facilities and are mostly held outdoors.
I think what he means is getting people interested in MilSim together and to practice drills and unit movement and all that. However, that is more so done at a team based level. I would love for there to be an entire day held to teaching players proper unit movement, drills, radio communication, etc etc
However, getting random people to show up to an event all about learning is a very steep task to undertake. I would love to see someone try and undertake this task and hopefully get a few trained professionals (Soldiers, LEO's, etc to assist)...

Troub, You are welcome to come train with us anytime. We created a Milsim team out of wanting to do actual tactics and training. Not just dressing the part, like most do. Myself and Commdog are both prior service. Commdog was a Marine, and as I posted, I served in the Army as an 11B and 19D. We are not a team who trains its guys by reading a book, we use actual proven battlefield tactics that we have learned and mastered. Shoot me a PM if your ever interested.
Also Troub we will be holding a Milsim rec game soon. It is really more of a gear up for our team before we start heading to large out of state events. But we are in need of Opfor. We are in the planning stages right now, but it looks as though it will be continous througout the day. No lunch breaks. In true Milsim fashion you will carry everything you will need. Eating will be out in the hostile area in a defensive perimeter, just like real world. Again, pm me if you are interested in attending a team training day or our "Gear Up" op.

I think bottom line is just for people to hold Milsim outdoor events and somewhere in Southesat Michigan because some people like myself cannot make that drive past Kalamazoo in my Saturn, as I mentioned on MIA.
I think with more events would just come more knowledge of the game.
I myself was not suggesting the use of Farmington for tactics I was just quoting you Troub from somewhere on here, though I think more people should learn how to move and act like a team, but then comes the issue of if one is not on an actual team what is the importance of acting like one.

Social intercourse and open discussion, I love it. Obviously I'm with Silent Warrior in wanting a low cost, cooperative training, rec game-like event. Being more in the western area of the state I'd like to see some happen over here rather than have the focus be eastwards. Eventually I think it would be cool to have an east vs west event and, before someone posts it, not one that means east area of SE michigan vs west area of SE michigan. Have it nearer the center of the state.

I've tried to p.m troub, but I realise everyone is busy. I own Schoolcraft Airsoft and lease out all 78 acres, I've offered to hold any milsim events you'd like for no charge(I enjoy playing also). I'm not much for hosting, but your more than welcome to the land anytime you feel like it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
P.S. I served 9 years in the U.S. navy, 7 years as a S.W.C.C.(mos 5350).
