Nothing has really been said about knife kills thus far. I think it's important to set up some guidelines regarding these.
Obviously, the 'knifer' should avoid using undue force. A tap or a nudge is more than ehough. Tap them and say you've been knifed.
In regards to how you knife, I say it should only be done when you catch the person unaware. For example, while playing in Farmington, an enemy runs out of ammo. He comes sprinting down the hallway that I'm facing, but in another room. As he runs down, he throws his arm into the doorway, effectively 'drive by' knifing me. Not realistic in the slightest. Another example, at No Limits, a guy gets up, runs across the field, jumps over something, does a barrel roll and knifes a fellow teammate. Hilarious to watch, but silly in regards to being realistic. I'd say, no running into rooms and just slapping everybody, no charging down hallways and knifing everyone you can touch and anything like that. It's possible to sneak up on people, expecially in CQB. It's harder in woodland, but as seen at No Limits, people can do it.

There was an instance at the SFOD field (urban warfare style field), where I was able to sneak up on Chaseman. He was paying too much attention to targets downrange through his scope, and didn't notice his spotter was "dead". I walked up, pushed the barrel of his rifle up and out of the way, and tapped my fist on his gut and said "Knife Kill". Figures, the one event I DIDN'T carry my rubber bayonet The following event there, maybe 15 people had rubber knives

Pointing your weapon at them and going "Bang" also works. Only a true ass will try and fight his way out of it. I've only ever had one guy just run away from it and it shows the lack of maturity of that player. I look at it this way, that person could of just lit me up from five feet away and gave me some welts. He choose to be nice and let me go away with a bruised ego.

I've only been able to knife kill somebody once, about 2 years ago at a winter game at RJ's paintball.
There was about a foot and a half of snow, cold as hell and in the middle of heavy snowfall, 2 guys came out of nowhere while I was kicked back into a snowy bush, since I was wearing my Schneetarn and hadn't been seen, I simply waited for the first guy to pass far enough that I could kill his buddy and then shoot him. At that point, I didn't have a rubber knife, I just grabbed his leg and said bang while pointing my pistol at him for safe measure.
So, I think the common " BANG" you're dead is fair and shouldn't be contested if you have them " dead to rights ".

Agreed. I had a douchebag at Thunder 4 come into a room and bang kill like half a dozen people during a night game. He said that since he had sneaked past us that meant he could have killed all of us. I heartily begged to differ.

I think with respect to proximity a knife kill is kinda a ego boster and way cool if you can pull it off, ACO game at the Lyons plant it had wholes in the walls and guys were trying to shoot through them on guy stuck a barrel through and I grabbed it and kept him from shooting me then reached through and "stabbed" him, but normally I like the thought of a bang kill as long as your playing with good guys ( thats the assumed purpose of this forum ) That they take it like a man, because if some one got within a few feet of me I would probably smack Em' in the head if they shot me when they could have bang killed me.

I got a bang kill on a couple guys who thought they were soooo cool and all they did was piss and moan about how they wish I would have shot them. I bet if I would have shot them they'd have been bitching about how I should have bang killed them. This is the reason I'm trying to be more selective about who I play with. Good guys only and no assholes.

I've had more than my fair share of knife kills... And really all it comes down to is who the person is. If I'm playing some fun game with friends, and we're willing to take it to the next level, I'll offset their balance and maybe take them to the ground or something, before executing a knife procedure. But if I'm playing at a large scale game, I usually just say "Call it" or do a bang kill if I have them dead to rights. Knife kills is a very touchy situation, because not everyone can support someone elses body weight while maintaning positive control on the situation, most people say all you need to do is tap them. But if we want to kick a mil-sim spice into it, I think offsetting them is the best. I rememeber just last week when I was doing some MOUT training we were clearing up these stairs in a pitch black environment and all I remember was getting lifted up by my LBV and pulled into a corner, then I felt the rubber training knife across my neck and the intructor said "Now stay quiet and die slow". It was pretty insane considering if it were a real situation I would have been dead... Albeit if it was a real situation they probably would have given us NVG's too

Totally different situation Mike, Marines are bat shit insano. Haha, I kid, I kid.
Anyway, I would suggest just slicing your potential target. That would create a lot less unwanted pain. Theoretically.
My only knife kill consisted of me hiding behind a corner, popping out and slicing a certain Commie along his stomach, I assume I could have given him a bit of unwanted pain if I would have stabbed the kid.

MilSim or not, there should be no reason to engage in actual physical contact with another player. Even if it is consensual between the two of you, a lot of things can go wrong. Which is why I am just gonna go with a light tap and saying knife or out and then moving on.
Also, something I saw at the game today. Some tard in a ghillie suit had a rubber katana and I've felt those things before and they are anything ,but soft. If he poked or slashed anyone with it, it would of hurt. I tried to tell the kid that it was a really bad idea, but of course he just said really lame along the lines of "You're face is a bad idea." and then he got made fun of by everyone.

Troub, With the rubber sword you should have told him he's in the wrong sport. He should get into Amptgard. www.amtgardinc.com/Me personally, I think Amptgard would be fun but I'm not into John Woo reenacting so I won't be mixing Swords and guns. I'll just stick with Airsoft.
